Ask for company identity, relevant certification, named equipment, survey assumptions, itemised scope, generation estimate, workmanship cover, product warranties, payment schedule and complaint route.

Two certifications, not one
MCS certification (currently MIS 3002 v6.0) covers installation quality and is required for Smart Export Guarantee payments. Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC) membership is a separate scheme covering sales practices, contracts, deposits and dispute resolution. Ask an installer to confirm both, with registration numbers you can check independently.

Compare the same thing
Normalise system size, battery inclusion, scaffolding, electrical work, monitoring, grid work and aftercare before comparing totals.

Pause at pressure
Treat limited-time pricing, guaranteed savings, unclear deposits, finance that obscures total cost and reluctance to put claims in writing as reasons to slow down.
